Coming soon from Author Tess Mallory, "Highland Rogue"

From “the Queen of Highlander time-travel romance” comes a sexy new series set in the Scottish Highlands…

1711. They call him the Piper. A masked bandit seeking vengeance for his people, Quinn MacIntyre leaves his victims with empty pockets, and a haunting tune played on the pipes that once gave him great joy. But when a flame-haired minx stumbles across his path, she awakens a new song in his heart. Now the outlaw faces a challenge more daunting than the Duke’s patrols or Rob Roy’s anger: Let go of the past and embrace the future…

Present day. On her dream vacation in the Scottish Highlands, aspiring archaeologist Maggie Graham discovers a tri-spiral carving in the floor of an ancient cairn, and unwittingly sets its dormant magic in motion. Sent tumbling back in time 300 years, Maggie uncovers the most amazing find of all—a Scottish hero straight out of her wildest fantasies. There are just two tiny problems with this grand adventure: She’s trapped in 18th century Scotland, and the man she’s fallen for is an outlaw, a thief, a daring . . . Highland Rogue!
Highland Rogue will be available from Berkley (Putnam/Penguin) books in May 2008, you don't want to miss it!

Out now, "A Warrior's Heart"

There are those who would love to rid themselves of painful memories, to forget nasty pasts and mistakes. They say its hell to live with those memories. I say its hell to live without them.

I have no memories of my past, my friends or family.I owe my life to the Fae who discovered me bleeding and nearly dead at their doorway. They saved me and offered me a new life, regardless of my past.

So I’ve served the Fae and the Shields since that day. My special knowledge of herbs and healing has been needed to save the Shields countless times. They are my brethren, my family, yet I am alone.

No matter where I search or what questions I ask, I discover nothing to open a doorway in my mind of locked memories. Until I catch a glimpse of a woman who seems as familiar to me as breathing.

Danielle.

Though she claims to not know me, our bodies know each other.

Yet, I agonize over what she keeps hidden in the depths of her haunted hazel eyes. I fear the dark thoughts that lurk in my heart, and wonder at any black deeds in my past. If what I dread comes to pass, death will not come swift enough.

Above all, I must keep Danielle safe. She is the only one that has quieted my soul and shown me what serenity was.

The Art of Procrastination

pro·cras·ti·nate
v. pro·cras·ti·nat·ed, pro·cras·ti·nat·ing, pro·cras·ti·nates
v.intr.
To put off doing something, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness.
v.tr.
To postpone or delay needlessly.

The above definition says it all of course, but am I the only writer out there that when finally I've got time where I can sit down and write, I don't? I mean, say it ain't so. It can't just be me, but boy doesn't it piss me off.

Like today for instance. No plans for the day, I didn't have to go out for any reason whatsoever. No Christmas parties to attend. NOTHING. Hubby said he was going to take care of the cleaning for today, which, I might add, he's apparently having the same procrastination issue I'm currently experiencing. But the point is my day was free. Free to write, write, write. These days don't happen often. Not for me anyway.

I was up early, by 7, sat and drank coffee for two hours. Then the hubby and I found the most fascination show on TV...something like the top biggest celebrity screw-ups of 2007. Yeah, shockingly, this show, which can only be compared to a train wreck, held our attention for the 1 or 2 hours it was on. Then more channel surfing. Make some tea, have a snack and then finally decide that it's time to hit the office.

Well, of course my desk is messy. I can't 'create' in this state of chaos. So you know what's coming, right? Yes! I just had to absolutely clean my office. The whole damn thing. Got that done and went upstairs for another snack...I think I eat too much...and hubby was watching an interesting show on mystery hybrid dogs stalking around in the Maine woods. Of course this catches my attention, because I remember these stories and I grew up in the area they happened in so I had to sit and watch the whole show.

More of that type of stuff throughout the rest of the afternoon and now, here it is, 5:15 and I haven't written one word.

Here's my question(s): Are you a procrastinator? Do you have any special tricks up your sleeve to overcome it? And lastly, would you mind sharing?

Treasured Friend

We lost a treasured friend today, the little dog who used to lay her

head upon our knee and share her silent thoughts.

She'll come no longer to our call, retrieve no more her favorite ball.
A voice far greater than our own has called her to His golden throne.

And though our eyes are filled with tears,

We thank Him for the many happy years.

Book Review - "The Spell of the Killing Moon"

Coming soon- The Spell of the Killing Moon
By: Skhye Moncrief

Aidan Gordon, the Black Knight is being tracked by a werewolf, he just doesn’t know it. From the moment her arrives at Castle Wolvey he catches the eye of a beautiful woman. The only problem is, Elspeth is a druid, and more importantly the mistress of Lord Wode. Unfortunately, Lady Wode has found out about her and has set out to remove her from her husbands life. Aidan vows to protect her.

Its no mistake that Elspeth and the Black Knight have ended up in the same castle. Elspeth, an assassin, has come to kill him. She holds a secret, one that will help her fulfill her duty. That duty is to protect the timeline before he has a chance to destroy it, a deed she cannot allow.
If she doesn’t kill him and protect the timeline, she will never be allowed to travel back to her own time without her body exploding, erasing her chance for reincarnation. But when they can’t seem to fight the attraction brewing between them, Elspeth worries that she may not be able to follow through with her duty.

Could Aidan be her soul mate?

Will he find out her secret?

And will she kill him? Because “One must die, so the other can live.”

Or will Elspeth spend the rest of her years roaming under the “Spell of the Killing Moon?”

Skhye Moncrief pens and interesting tale of shape-shifters, duty, honor and the undeniable power of love!

You don’t want to miss it!

I give this tale 4 **** stars!

I look forward to reading her debut novel, “He of the Fiery Sword!”
