Watch The King's Daughter by Miriam Newman ...Video Trailer
“I was the King’s daughter once, so many years ago that sometimes now it is hard to remember. Before the tide of time carried away so many things, so many people, it was worth something to be the daughter of a King.
"Our little island nation of Alcinia was not rich, except for tin mines honeycombing the south. It wasn’t even hospitable. Summer was a brief affair and fall was only a short time of muted colors on the northernmost coast where my father sat his throne at the ancient Keep of Landsfel. Winter was the killing time and spring was hardly better, with frosts that could last into Fifth-Month. But from the south, where men cut thatch in a pattern like the bones of fish, to the north where rock roses spilled down cliffs to the sea, it was my own.
“One thinks such things will never change, yet all things do.”

Thanks for showing this, Andrea. I'm happy to say I have a trailer with a picture of a castle I enjoy as much as I do the one on your log. This so makes me want to hop on a plane. Truly, it's been a pleasure being here this week. You're a very gracious hostess and I hope if people have not read this book they'll give it a try. The sequel is available on my website www.miriamnewman.com, so there's no waiting involved. And now on with the show!
Enjoyed your trailer Miriam. Looks great!
Thanks, B.J. This one owes it all to CHRW. Kerri Nelson did the original trailer and Denise Alicea updated it. Does that group rock or what? So much talent concentrated all in one place.
I loved the video, Miriam!!
Love it!
Thanks, Vonda and Pat! I want that castle. Right in my back yard. Or maybe what a I REALLY want is my back yard near that castle. Yeah, I think that's it.
HEY MIRIAM, I LOVE THE TRAILER!!
linda_bass
Thanks, Linda. I'll pass that on to the two ladies responsible!
Wonderful video, Miriam. The music was perfect, too.
Awesome trailer for an awesome book!
:-)
Thanks, Gerri and Maeve. I found that music myself, Gerri, amazingly enough! It's actually the Irish "Arran Boat Song."
I liked the trailer. It's simple and beautiful in the ssme time.
Sorry so late chiming in- sick child. *sigh
I have to agree with everyone, this trailer is Beautifully done!
Miriam, the castle makes me want to hop on a plane too!!! Just something about it, isn't there?

:O)Andrea
Aw, I'm sorry you have a sickie, Andrea, but I sure know how that goes. It's been a wonderful week, like meeting with a bunch of good friends. Then to get up this morning and find out my print book had gone up at Amazon was the icing on the cake. I appreciate so much the opportunity to post about my favorite book on this gorgeous blog. And who knows, I may see you in the spring. As Gerri mentioned, we found a great cafe in Gettysburg and there was also a restaurant with an outside dining area that served brunch. So...brunch and the battlefield? Why not?! I think our last gathering cost us like $20 and gas in the car. Not bad for a writers' meeting and I think we all car-pooled. So I hope to see at least some of you in a couple of months!
Thanks, Adila! I especially loved that one shot of the castle in the water. Just makes me sigh.
