Let's get Up Close & Personal with Author Brenda Whiteside ...

Born and raised in Arizona, my travels had been limited to California, Nevada, and New Mexico until I married a man doing a stint in the Army. If the Army offered nothing else, we at least had the opportunity to see a good part of the world. And we found we liked moving around.

Our gypsy hearts kept us moving around in civilian life until seventeen years ago when we fell in love with Minnesota, a nature wonderland. We enjoy hiking, motorcycling, fishing, live theater, and the Twins. I enjoy gardening but haven’t been able to get my husband involved. He tells me he has no desire to play in the dirt.

I’m blessed with creative soul mates. My husband is an excellent photographer. Although not working in the field anymore, his creations hang on our walls. My son is a singer/song writer with talent unending. He lives in a far off town in the west, among the pines, where my husband and I love to visit.

My dog, Rusty, creates joy. After all, he's the smartest dog in the world!

I've been writing all of my life. Early on my writing consisted mostly of the captions on my artwork. I was certain my destiny was to be an artist. In high school my writing took on new meaning with the psychedelic age, and the writing became an art in itself with loopy scrolls. It wasn't until college and beyond that I found more satisfaction filling a blank page with words than an empty canvas with color. I left my paints behind.
After I dabbled in poetry and short stories, finally getting serious and publishing in both print and e-zine, I turned to writing novels. Whether I’m writing short stories or novels, the characters drive me forward, most often taking me along for the ride.

~SLEEPING WITH THE LIGHTS ON ~Buy The Book

*Contest/Give-a-way!*
In Sleeping with the Lights On, Sandra can’t find the time to get to the store to buy coffee. The quirky millionaire, the red-headed stalker, and a sexy ex-husband are keeping her tied up – whoops – there’s a sneak peek. So she makes frequent runs to Starbucks, sometimes in her unconventional p.j.’s. for a cup of latte and biscotti. Leave a comment here AND drop me an email at
Brenda@brendawhiteside.com, and at the end of the week I’ll draw someone to receive both a Starbucks’ gift card and a gift card for The Wildrose Press. I’ll also add you to my announce only newsletter to notify you of future drawings and give-a-ways.

Hi Brenda,
Nice to get to know you. Sleeping With the Lights On, sounds like a great read. There are not that many romance stories where the heroine is an older woman, so I really admire you for writing this.
Best of luck

Margaret

Hi Brenda! (waving from Minnesota)
Sleeping with the Lights On is a great read, everyone. I loved its heroine, who is approaching fifty with wits, heart and a healthy libido. The hero is hunky. The plot twists are unpredictable, and I work hard to guess whodunit and why.

It's okay, Brenda. I'm into redheads and biscotti too. Had to lay off the caffeine. But the rest sounds just fine! LOL

Margaret, thanks. Yes, I like older heroines - so much experience to draw from!

Jennifer - yes, I think I'll keep them.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Brenda Whiteside’s SLEEPING WITH THE LIGHTS ON. Sandra Holliday, the heroine brings riveting romances between two men. Wesley, the man she’s met to end her years of less than perfect choices; choices that left her single and broke. Then, along comes
Carson Holiday, who drops back into Sandra’s life, reigniting an attraction they can’t deny. When Carson reappears, Sandra must choose again. Here’s one scene from the book that will entice a person to read this spell-binding book:
"Believe me, Ive been sleeping with the lights on for..." A dot of red caught my attention. "I don't believe it!"
"What?" Abby joined me by the window. She scanned the street but obviously didn't see what I did. "What?"
"There." I pointed. "Beside the green house on the corner. See the red car?" We had a good overview of the street from the second floor. If we'd been ground level, the car would've been hidden. "She must've followed me here. This is getting ridiculous."
"Who is it?" Her eyes squinting, Abby tried to see the Mustang's occupant.
"A woman who lives in Wesley's apartment building." I stepped to the side, the coffee-brown drapes offering me a hiding place. I peeked around the drape's corded edge. "She's following me. I knew it!
"Why? Who is she?"
I pulled Abby over to me, talking in hushed tones, as if my stalker might overhear. Telling her the story of my morning encounter with Eva, harassed ex-cop-turned-private detective, gave me goose bumps.
"You spent the night with Wesley?" Abby's voice boomed. "Is this getting serious?"
"Abby, aren't you listening?" I tugged on her arm. "I'm being stalked!"
"Oh, you're being followed by a jealous woman."
"That's called stalking!"
The plot thickens, with a secret admirer, a redheaded stalker, and an eccentric millionaire that throws her on a dangerous path. A surprising ending will throw the readers. I am a fan of Brenda’s and am waiting for her next book patiently.
